MARGAO
The Goa Skating Association under the aegis of the Roller Skating Federation of India will be organising the National Ranking Open Road Race Skating Championship, at the SGPDA ground, Margao from May 16 to 19.
Over 1250 participants from across India are expected to compete in the four-day event, according to Goa Skating Association President Milind Dessai, who spoke at a media gathering.
Six age groups, ranging from U-7 to U-17, will be represented, with competitions held for each group (U-5, U-9, U-11, U-14, U-17, and above 17). The winners will qualify for the National ranking roller skating championship.
Dessai expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai, and Vasco MLA Daji Salkar for their logistical support and their anticipated presence at the inaugural ceremony.
This marks the first time Goa will be hosting the event.
Officials and special guests attending included Naresh Kumar Sharma (General Secretary, Roller Skating Federation of India), Sebastian Prem (Vice President and International Referee), Prof. P.K. Singh (Vice President and International Referee), and international skaters Anand Kumar (Tamil Nadu) and Sidanth Kamble.
