Navelim Villagers cruise into semifinals

Navelim Villagers Union beat Goa Velha Sport Club 5-3 to move into the semifinals of the 23rd All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organised by Sirlim Sport Club at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim.

In the very first minute, Clinton Niasso made it 1-0 with a simple tap-in. Goa Velha were successful in breaking the Navelim defence and level the score 1-1 through Prasil Kankonkar in the 21st minute. In the 31st minute, Ronaldo Pereira dribbled past two defenders and placed the ball into the far corner, 2-1.

Crossing over, Navelim increased the lead 3-1 through Darren Peixeto in the 53rd minute. In the 59th minute, Navelim's Anil Shivolkar scored to make it 4-1. There were two quick goals by Goa Velha in the 63rd and 65th minutes by Chatur Naik and Vikranth, 4-3. In the 69th minute, Vallinton D'Silva made it 5-3 for Navelim Villagers Union.

Damdolem thrash SFX Camarxet 5-0

Damdolem SC beat SFX Camarxet 5-0 to move into the semifinals of the 4th Cumborda Sports Club football tournament organised by Cumborda Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Wednesday.

Milagres gave the lead to Damdolem in the 7th minute and James doubled it in the 12th minute. John then scored the third goal for Damdolem in the 20th minute. After the lemon break, James scored his brace in the 35th minute and in the 45th minute, Clinton scored from the spot, making it 5-0 in favour of Damdolem SC. The Man of match trophy was awarded to Velroy from SFX Camarxet.

DBO Fatorda move into quarters

Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda made short work of Candolim SC 4-1 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Late Pacheco Cup at village panchayat ground, Betalbatim on Wednesday.

Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda netted a goal each through Francis Andrade and Clive Miranda while Velistn D'Souza netted a brace scoring in the 12th, 24th, 34th and 50th minutes. Sanket Jotkar pulled a goal back for Candolim in the 60th minute. Veliston D'Souza of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda was presented with the Man of the match award.
