Shubham Debnath added another feather to his cap on Tuesday, by winning Goa's third gold medal at the 38th National Games, currently being held in Uttarakhand.

Debnath excelled in the traditional Yogasana event, securing the top spot with an impressive score of 61.58 points. The victory marked a significant achievement in his career, as he previously clinched a gold medal in the same event at the 2023 National Games in Goa.

Before Shubham’s triumph, Goa had already celebrated two gold medals. Bhuvaneshwari Jadhav won a gold in Kalaripayattu, a traditional Indian martial art, while Akanksha Salunke secured a gold in Squash, showcasing the diverse sporting talents emerging from the state. However, similar to Yogasana, Kalaripayattu is also categorized as a demonstration sport, which means that the medal is not added to the official medal tally.

These events are not included in the official medal tally, which means that although the gold medal adds to Goa’s achievements at the Games, it does not officially contribute to the state's overall medal count.
