Navelim Sporting Club humbled CAC Cansaulim 3-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of the Gold Silver Rolling Trophy at Our Lady of Rosary Church ground, Navelim on Wednesday.
Navelim Sporting's Clinton Niasso was in the thick of action with timely assists to his team-mates and shooting power. Meanwhile, Chadwick of Cansaulim gave his best to his team but missed a chance to score in the 7th minute.
Navelim scored quick goals through Clinton Niasso and Myron Gomes in the 16th and 25th minutes respectively. Navelim inflated the lead through Nash Pereira in the 62nd minute.
GFA elections: Pango, Menezes file nomination papers
With just few days to go for the last date of filing of nomination papers for the Goa Football Association (GFA) elections, Antonio Pango, the current interim president of the association and South Goa vice-president, is contesting for the post of the vice-president.
Easily recognised as the efficient GFA's face in South Goa, Pango has always excelled. His planning has been meticulous which earned him praise from all the participating teams including the I-League. He has been deeply involved with youth development from the under-16 to under-20 level.
Meanwhile, Ilhas Zone executive committee member Welvino Menezes has filed the nomination papers to contest for the post of GFA president.
