Abhishek Swami and Siraj Vadkar duo won the doubles open badminton tournament organised by Brahma Sports Club at Multipurpose hall, Sanquelim. Mrunal Bhatkande & Unmesh Naik duo was the runner-up.
At the function, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant spoke about the need for a change in attitude to win medals at the national and international levels. He stated, “Necessary changes must be made in the education system to excel in sports.”
Manoj Patil, President Goa Badminton Association emphasised on vision to create a badminton ecosystem for students to take up sports along with academics. “The association intents to scout talent at school level and groom them further to take up sports as a career,” he said.
The function was graced by Santosh Bhagat, President, Housing Board Association; Sundar Usapkar, businessman along with the club functionaries and members.
