Active Youth Per Seraulim defeated Mix Blood Seraulim 6-3 via a tiebreaker to win the Seraulim Inter-Ward Football Tournament, organized by Brazilian Boys Duncolim and held at the church ground on Tuesday.
Both teams entered the field with the aim to score early and were seen attacking from the word go. Active Youth Per Seraulim functioned like a well-oiled machine. Their crisp short passes marshalled by Mohamed Sahil and Savan Lotlikar were a treat to watch. On the other hand, Mix Blood Seraulim also made goal scoring moves whenever they got the possession of the ball. Melroy Pacheco and Steven Fernandes combined well with Elijah Gomes and Ashley Fernandes guarding the defence to avoid any damage from Active Youth.
Mix Blood took an early lead with a 24th-minute goal by Melroy Pacheco after a rebound from Alliston Dias’s shot. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the 42nd minute with another goal from Pacheco. However, Active Youth fought back, scoring from a penalty by Savan Lotlikar in the 48th minute and equalizing through a free kick just before the final whistle.
In the tiebreaker, Active Youth’s Savan Lotlikar, Mohamed Sahil, Dev Karan, and Azan Mulla scored, while Mix Blood’s only successful penalty came from Melroy Pacheco. Azan Mulla’s key saves secured a 5-3 victory for Active Youth.
Fr Jose Gomes, Parish Priest and Vice President of United Sports Club of Seraulim, was the chief guest, with Joella Caido and other special invitees presenting the prizes.
