Albert Developers, Merces overcame the challenge from Manu XI, Curtorim 1-0 to move into the finals of All Goa CRC Women’s Cup football tournament, organised by CRC Chinchinim at CRC ground, Chinchinim on Monday.
Albert Developers dominated the proceedings initially and enjoyed better ball possession. They got the first chance in the 6th minute when striker Valanka D’Souza outwitted a couple of rival defenders but her attempted shot was brilliantly blocked by Curtorim goalkeeper Venessa D’Sa. At the other end, Manu XI got a chance to surge ahead when striker Valany Rocha picked up the ball from Josssel Mascarenhas and her blistering shot was well saved by Albert Developers goalkeeper Annette D’Costa.
After minor scare, Albert Developers squandered the easiest of chances when Wilma Vaz and Joyce Fernandes missed from handshaking distance in the 12th and 14th minute, respectively. Post resumption, Albert Developers continued in same vein with their forwards making a number of forays inside the rival territory but their forwards were not on the mark.
Manu XI got another chance when Leifa Carvalho unleashed a long ranger but it missed the mark narrowly. Albert Developers scored the winning goal in the 30th minute when Valanka D’Souza ran down the flank and sent a shot that caught the rival goalkeeper napping.
On May 19, Albert Developers Merces will meet Models Panaji in the finals.
