Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda booked a place in the finals of All Goa Rising Cup 2018 inter village football tournament, organised by Santa Cruz Society of Poitmado in association with Rising Club of Sanvorcotto, as they beat Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim 4-1 in the semi-finals match at Government School ground, Cuncolim on Sunday.
Don Bosco scored two goals in the first half -- Francis Andrade (16th) and Necil Pinto (30th) -- and two in the second half, through a brace from by Hanslum Furtado. Wilred Leisure scored their only goal through Veron Fernandes in the 58th minute. Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda will face Ambelim Sports Club in the finals on September 16.
The the game started with a lot of intensity as Don Bosco Oratory went forward with a lot of purpose, looking for the opener. The goal arrived in the 16th minute when attacking midfielder Francis Andrade unleashed a left-footed drive that crashed into the net, off an assist from Joel Colaco. After taking the lead, Don Bosco Oratory enjoyed long spells of possession as Francis and Necil collaborated well to nullify the Wilred Leisure attacks. In the 30th minute, Don Bosco Oratory doubled the lead when Necil slotted past the rival goalkeeper, getting hold of a measured pass from Francis.
Post resumption, Don Bosco were in no mood to sit back and protect their lead and in the 55th minute, Hanslum scored the team’s third when he unleashed a blistering shot that found the roof of the net, off a Velton D’Souza pass in the 55th minute. Wilred Leisure got a chance on target and Veron Fernades made it count, scoring in the 58th minute.
Change in tactics resulted in waves of attack from the Wilred midfield as the crowd sensed more goals and got behind the trailing team. But the tide turned soon thereafter as Hanslum beat the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish to make it 4-1. Joel Colaco of Don Bosco Oratory was adjudged as the Man of the match.
