Ave Maria Athletic & Walkers Club, Benaulim rallied from behind to defeat Tilamola United Sports Club 2-1 to qualify for the semi-finals of GFA Under 14 league play-off at DYSA grounds, Curtorim on Tuesday. Ave Maria Athletic &Walkers Club led 1-0 at the break.
Tilamola United Sports Club started the game on a positive note and surged ahead in the 30th minute when Steven Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Stung by that reverse, Ave Maria tried their best to come back into the game. However rival defenders were strong in thwarting their attacks. Post resumption, Ave Maria were a more dominant lot as persistent forays paid dividends when Wilson bulged the net in the 52nd minute. The equalizer boosted the morale of Benaulim team as they tormented the rival defence with well orchestrated raids .Mohammed Mansuri struck the match winner in the 68th minute with a stiff grounder.
