Back in time

Late Philomena Braz was a Mumbai based actor and employedfull time as a telephone operator. She would visit Goa to perform in tiatrsduring the summer by clubbing her vacations with professional assignments.

Late Prem Kumar’s tiatr script was not only rich in proseand of high literary value it was interspersed with exceptionally thoughtfuldialogues.

Late Khadda Minguel (bearded Minguel) was a pioneer in thefolk plays or ‘Khell’ as they were referred to. In tiatr circles he was called‘Khellanchea Razancho Raza’ (King of Kings of ‘folk plays). He later lost hisvision and was often called as ‘Kudd’ddo Minguel’(blind Minguel).

Among his many solos late Remmie Colaco’s solo, ‘AnkvarMoriechem Dukh’ will always remain a timeless classic.

Anthony de Agassaim began his sojourn with tiatrs as avillage tiatr contractor. He staged tiatrs in the village of Agassaim on feastdays and otherwise on contract basis. As a contractor he would stage tiatrs ofall renowned playwrights including those produced by Prince Jacob too.
