Riding on a brace each by Austin Fernandes and Allister Fernandes, Betalbatim Sporting Club registered a 4-0 win over United Club of Benaulim to enter the quarter-finals of All Goa 27th Super Soccer tournament organised by United Boys of Dando-Colva at St John the Baptist Dando Grounds, Benaulim on Monday.There was no score at half time.
Heavy downpours throughout the day made life difficult for both the teams as they struggled to play one-touch football, as a result the play was restricted to midfield forcing players to play it safe.
The second session proved to be a one-sided affair as Betalbatim opened the floodgates, scoring all their goals following a barren session before half-time. Betalbatim Sporting Club broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Austin Fernandes unleashed a snap shot which beat the rival goalkeeper hands down. Buoyed by the lead, Betalbatim Sporting Club raised the attacks and swarmed all over the rival territory and in the 42nd minute, Allister Fernandes doubled the lead.
A lot was expected out of United Club of Benaulim who were trialing 0-2, but today they looked jaded and hardly made any attempts to trouble the rival defence. Austin Fernandes who had a good time put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish to register his brace. Allister Fernandes drove the final nail into rival's coffin to register his brace late in the second half.
