Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal clinched St Joseph Vaz Soccer Cup after defeating Rosary High School Navelim 2-1 in the final organised by Mount Mary Educational Complex, Chinchinim, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Tuesday.
Bethany Convent scored their first goal in the 14th minute through Josley Gomes. Lyod Rocha scored the second goal for Bethany Convent in the 16th minute.
After the lemon break, Rosary High School, Navelim pulled a goal back through Sam Pereira in the 22nd minute.
The winners Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal took home a cash prize of Rs 15,000 with a winners' trophy while Rosary High School, Navelim had to be content with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and runners-up trophy.
Chief guest Fr Caetano Fernandes, Parish Priest of Holy Family Church, Porvorim gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of Gregory D Souza, General Secretary of PVC Parra and other dignitaries.
