Chennaiyin FC aims to strengthen home advantage against Mohammedan SC

Panaji: Chennaiyin FC is set to take on Mohammedan SC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai this Thursday. The Marina Machans are coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory against Odisha FC, while Mohammedan SC secured their first point in the Indian Super League (ISL) with a 1-1 draw against FC Goa.

Chennaiyin FC is eager to return home after their successful away game. The team has won five of their last seven matches at this stadium, and their strong home performances have been crucial to their playoff success in previous seasons. The players are looking to build on this advantage as they prepare to face Mohammedan SC.

On the other hand, this match will mark Mohammedan SC’s first-ever away game in ISL history. In their recent match, they made an impressive 15 shots from inside the penalty area, the highest by any team in a drawn ISL match since December 2023. Their aggressive attacking style is expected to challenge Chennaiyin FC’s defense.

Chennaiyin FC’s coach, Owen Coyle, emphasized the team’s determination to secure three points in every match. “We keep that focus and mentality that I always speak about,” Coyle stated. He noted that with seven of their first ten games away from home, the team remains committed to playing for a win, regardless of the venue.

Mohammedan SC’s head coach, Andrey Chernyshov, expressed pride in the confidence his players have shown in the ISL. He is hopeful that they can enhance their physical fitness for upcoming matches. “My players have shown amazing football and confidence,” Chernyshov said, but acknowledged the challenges ahead: “Now we don’t have enough time. We will continue to work on physical conditions for the away match against Chennaiyin FC.”
