Chinchinim Legends and Friends Circle, Chinchinim produced a goalless draw in an exhibition football match at Church ground, Chinchinim on Tuesday.
Chinchinim Legends started the match with former international defender Mahesh Lotikar along with former Salgaocar players Iganatious Dias, Alvito Pereira, and former Dempo defender Jerry Fernandes as they exhibited their football skills and kept the crowds entertained. Striker Ignatious Dias was the thorn in the flesh for the rivals’ defence and tested the opposition goalkeeper with a blistering shot.
At the other end, Friends Circle started the game with Mashu Fernandes, former Dempo player, along with Rafeal Coutinho, former Agassaim Youth Club player, and Jermious Baretto. Rafeal Coutinho was relentless in attack and made a couple of good moves upfront but rival goalkeeper Charltan Furtado was solid under the bar.
Chinchinim Legends came close on number of occasions with Ignatious Dias penetrating the rival defence. However Jerromious Baretto was stubborn at the back and thwarted the rival strikers with neat tackles. Friends Circle were meticulous in their approach and Rafeal Coutinho looked dangerous. However Mahesh Lotlikar and Jerry Fernandes dealt with the challenges at the back well. Friends Circle had a golden chance to break the deadlock but Xavier failed to beat the rival goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
