The 2nd Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League, powered by Nave Marg and organised by Youth Futsal Academy in partnership with Chowgule Sports Centre with The Football Dug Out as social media partners, kicked off here on Monday.

In the inaugural match of the league, St Jude’s High School, Betalbatim hammered Child Care School, Margao 10-0. Slane Ferrao scored a triple hat-trick and Britto Severes got one for the winners.

Hosts YFA Warriors almost squandered a three goal lead but managed to hold on to see out a 3-2 victory against a strong Marina English School, Verna. YFA opened their account through Irwin Faleiro’s left foot drive and added two more with Samuel Dsouza’s solo run and a cool and composed finish by Yohann Sousa. Addison Fernandes and Rizbeen D’costa scored two quick goals to give the game a nail biting end. YFA captain Vardaan was the unsung hero of the match as he held the fort beautifully. The Verna school’s keeper, Veagan Colado was the man of the match.

Last year’s finalists, Perpetual Succour Convent, Navelim eased past The Kings School by a 5-1 scoreline. Taufique Gundar and Emmanuel Gama scored a brace each and Sherlock Dias scored the other. Pranay Rivankar scored the consolation goal for The Kings School. Emmanuel Gama was adjudged the man of the match.

Defending champions Loyola HS, Margao scored a laboured 4-1 win over Regina Marytrum Assolna. Man of the match Kiam Pinto scored a hat-trick and Mitson Barbosa scored one. Chrysler Simoes scored the lone goal for Regina. Debutants Bloomz International scored a fluent 6-0 victory against fellow first timers Infant Jesus High School, Colva. Man of the Match Arnav Mohite scored four goals, while Velroy Estibeiro and Samuel Dias added one each. Rosary High School, Navelim got the better of Manovikas EMS in the final match of Day 1.
