Cumborda crushed Virabhat 4-1 to move into the semifinals of the 6th Jose and Franky Memorial football match played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Friday.
Cumborda scored the first goal through Myron Fernandes in the 12th minute. Cumborda went all guns blazing and scored two more goals through Veron Fernandes and Velito Fernandes in the 18th and 23rd minutes respectively.
In the second half, Virabhat scored a goal through Savio Fernandes in the 40th minute to make it 1-3. Cumborda scored their fourth goal through Avilson Fernandes in the 56th minute. Veron Fernandes of Cumborda was named as the Man of the match.
Goa's Jonathan match commissioner for Jr U-17 nat c'ship
Goa's Jonathan De Souza is among the five match commissioners appointed for Junior Under-17 Women s National Football Championship, which will be played in Guwahati from June 18 to July 4. Kimberly Miranda (WIFA), Sudeshina Mukherjee (IFA), Deepak Sharna (Himachal Prasesh), Lalranwang (Mizoram) are the other match commissioners selected.
Kenedy shines during Mandovi crossing event
Kenedy D'Silva stole the limelight in the Mandovi river crossing event organised by Amigos de Clark Sports Club, Macazana in association with Goa Swimming Association recently.
There were 13 participants in different categories. Aarav Vagela, Saisha Kambli, Savita R Naik, Yoguta Gaude, Kayden D'Silva, Sachi Chari, Ansh Naik, Deep Dessai, Macqui Mascarenhas, Nathan Raposo, Nigel Raposo, Senito Carvalho and Gordon Fernandes participated.
John J Clark, joint secretary of All India Trade Unions Congress (AITUC), was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to in the presence of other dignitaries.
