Guardian Angel SC, Sanvordem were unlucky to lose against Curtorim Gymkhana via the tie-breaker 4-2 in a pre-quarter-final match of the II Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup, organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Friday.
Both teams were well balanced in attack as well as in defence with Guardian Angel having a slight edge in the midfield battle as Maximo D'Costa & Aaron Fernandes dominated by feeding their forwards.
For Curtorim Gymkhana Savio Peixote missed an easy chance when fed by Vicky Cardozo in the goal-mouth with Guardian Angel keeper Russell blocking his effort with his foot.
At half time, both the teams failed to break the deadlock.
In the second half, Godwin who had a good game on the right flank for Guardian Angel, crossed the ball to Milroy in the penalty area but his header went wide off the mark.
At the other end, Savio & Ryan Rodrigues of Curtorim combined well upfront but failed to release the ball on time giving enough time to Guardian Angel defenders Norman & Kenneth to regroup.
As both teams failed to score during the regulation time, the tie-breaker was enforced where Freddy, Floyd, Savio & Ray Dias were on target for Curtorim Gymkhana while Keegan & Godwyn scored for Guardian Angel. Keeper Johnson Boget of Curtorim was the man of the match. Curtorim will now meet Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda on November 21.
