Sporting Club Davorlim thumped St Anthony’s Sports Club Assolda 4-1 to emerge champions of the 19th Super Soccer Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by United Club of Benaulim and played at the St John de Baptista football ground, Benaulim, on Sunday.
Sporting Davorlim took the lead in the 15th minute following an own goal by Samuel Peixoto of Assolda, who misfired while trying to clear a shot from SC Davorlim’s Milton Colaco. Shortly after, Assolda had a golden opportunity to equalise, but Mark Revlon Fernandes missed a clear chance.
SC Davorlim doubled their lead in the 25th minute through Royston Colaco. Their dominance continued in the second half, with Prince Figueiredo scoring the third goal, and M Ajay Raj netting the fourth in the 50th minute. Assolda pulled one back through Richard Fernandes near the end of the match. Chief Guest Capt Venzy Viegas, MLA of Benaulim, presented the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries.
