Agnelo Colaco came up with a brilliant brace as Sporting Club of Davorlim thrashed Verna Sports Club 4-0 to enter the quarter-finals of All Goa 26th Super Soccer tournament organized by United Boys of Dando-Colva at St John the Baptist grounds, Dando-Benaulim on Friday. Davorlim led 3-0 at the breather.
Davorlim started the match with constant attacking moves and surprised their opponents with their highly aggressive game which tore apart the Verna defense.With repeated attacks, Sporting Club of Davorlim rocked the rival citadel in the 6th minute when striker Agnelo Gomes beat the rival goalkeeper with a stiff shot off a pass from Joe Gomes. Buoyed by the goal, Davorlim lashed the Verna citadel with a ripple of attacks and made it 2-0 in the 15th minute when Joel Furtado produced a good run and slotted home with a brilliant strike.
Davorlim needed another goal and it arrived at a time when Verna Sports Club were threatening and following a counter-attack when Agnelo Colaco punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
At the other end, Verna Sports Club were disjointed and subdued and failed to function as a cohesive unit.
At the change of ends, it was Davorlim who were dominant and striker Joe Gomes drove the last nail into rival's coffins soon after the resumption. After enjoying the 4-0 cushion, Sporting Club of Davorlim relaxed a bit and played at leisure pace.
