Sporting Club Davorlim booked their place in the final of the UCV Cup 2026 with a commanding 4-0 victory over Ambelim SC at the Church Ground, Chinchinim, on Thursday.
Davorlim took the lead in the eighth minute when Vellroy Colaco headed home a cross from Selwyn Miranda. Milton Colaco doubled the advantage two minutes later, converting a rebound after Ambelim goalkeeper Benny Silva failed to hold on to the ball.
Leading 2-0 at the break, Davorlim continued to dominate after the restart. Milton Colaco struck his second goal of the match in the 40th minute to make it 3-0 before Ajay Raj completed the scoring in the 56th minute. Ambelim attempted to reduce the deficit but were kept at bay by a resolute Davorlim defence.
Milton Colaco was named Player of the Match. The award was presented by former Chinchinim-Deussua Sarpanch Frank Viegas.
Miracle Boys enter Victor Cardozo Memorial semis
MARGAO: Miracle Boys sealed the final semi-final berth in the Victor Cardozo Memorial Football Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Rodrigues Youth. Mevon starred for Miracle Boys by becoming the tournament's first hat-trick scorer. He struck in the fourth, 11th and 17th minutes to put his side firmly in control with a 3-0 lead. Jaden scored a consolation goal for Rodrigues Youth in the 25th minute, but Miracle Boys comfortably held on to secure a place in the last four.
All-Goa Rapid Chess Tournament on July 26
PONDA: Pratibha Friends Circle's Pratibha Sports Club, in association with the Ponda Taluka Chess Association, will organise the All-Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament in memory of late Mahadev Shambha Prabhudesai and late Pramila Mahadev Prabhudesai at Navdurga Hall, Borim, on July 26. The tournament will begin at 9.30 am.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top 20 finishers in the open category. Trophies will also be presented to the best unrated and veteran players, as well as the top two finishers in the Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories.
