Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, stormed into the semi-finals of 13th London Trophy with an exciting 5-3 win over Navelim Villagers Union at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
Navelim Villagers Union surged ahead in the 6th minute of play through Clinton Niasso who beat DBO keeper Blinghton Barretto with a simple tap-in. Joel Colaco found the equaliser for DBO Fatorda in the 8th minute as he shot home off a cross beating Jeet Gupta in the Navelim goal. Melvan Furtado regained the lead for DBO Fatorda in the 20th minute through a 30-yard long-ranger that beat Navelim keeper Jeet Gupta.
Prestly Gomes found the equaliser for Navelim Villagers Union in the 25th minute as he smartly took advantage of Brieghton Barretto’s error of judgement and shot home. Joel Colaco scored his brace and DBO Fatorda’s third goal of the match in the 27th minute as his lob landed into the goal beating Jeet Gupta.
Edgar Noronha made it 4-2 in favour of DBO Fatorda in the 30th minute of play as he danced past the Navelim defence and shot home from a close-range. At half time, the score read 4-2 in favour of DBO. In the second half, DBO Fatorda further increased the margin to make it 5-2 in the 50th minute through Joel Colaco, who incidentally also completed his hat-trick. Navelim Villagers Union reduced the margin in the 68th minute through Clinton Niasso who also scored his brace to make it 3-5 heading home off a cross from Aulon Gomes.
