Five-time champions Dempo Sports Club are determined to bounce back in the I-League after a shocking defeat to Sporting Club Bengaluru in their previous match. Coach Samir Naik’s side will face Sreenidi Deccan FC at the Arena Hyderabad on Friday in the fifth round of the league.
“We must stay focused and work hard to achieve the team’s goals this season,” said Naik after the loss. “Luck wasn’t on our side, and we missed several chances that could have turned the game in our favor. However, it’s still early in the season, and the players will learn from their mistakes and improve in the upcoming matches.”
Both teams are eyeing a win to boost their chances of climbing the league table. Dempo, currently third with seven points (two wins, one draw, and one loss), will need a victory to keep their top spot aspirations alive. Meanwhile, Sreenidi Deccan FC, with six points from as many matches, will also be aiming for a win to stay in contention.
Naik emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, stating, “This is our last chance in the group stage, and we are playing for a win. Inter Kashi is currently leading, but we are determined to secure three points and qualify for the next stage.”
He added, “The team is fully prepared, and we will give our best to achieve victory. Playing at home with the support of our fans is crucial for us. Their backing will fuel us to perform at our best.”
Naik is confident that Dempo is on the right path, and the team is ready to face the challenge in their quest for qualification.
