Dicarpali Sports Club booked their place in the semifinals of the Navelim Villagers Union Trophy with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Betalbatim Sporting Club at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Saturday.
Despite playing with 10 men from the start, Dicarpali held firm to secure the win, with Francisco Fernandes scoring the decisive goal in the 17th minute.
Betalbatim missed early scoring opportunities through Dickson Rogtao before Dicarpali struck on the counter. William Niasso sent a long pass to Francisco, who controlled the ball, beat the defence and goalkeeper before finding the net.
Betalbatim pushed for an equaliser but failed to break through Dicarpali's resolute defence until the final whistle.
Francisco Fernandes was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Damaciano Mascarenhas.
