Goa coach Derrick Pereira, on Thursday, laid emphasis on the team's readiness ahead of their Santosh Trophy clash against Gujarat at the SAG Trinity ground on Friday.
Pereira wants his players to play for themselves and if they can do that he believes the team will bag the trophy.
“We are fully prepared to face Gujarat tomorrow. We anticipate and well-organized opponent with players. We have learnt from our mistakes in the opening match against Chattisgarh and will not repeat the same,” Pereira said.
“Nowadays it is not easy to build a squad for the Santosh Trophy. So you don’t have to think for Goa, you just think about yourself and that will serve the purpose,” Pereira added.
"If you look at my players, they are young and energetic. That is what I want as a coach. If we can play according to our potential we will make our state proud,” he said.
The coach also cautioned his team not to underestimate the opponents.
"We are very enthusiastic and aware of the significance of these matches. We hope it will be a second win,” the Goan coach added.
Pereira also informed that some of the players have some fitness niggles but was confident that they will recover for the match.
