Bardez Veterans beat Vasco Veterans 6-4 to win an exhibition football match at Simplicio artificial turf ground, Chandor on Saturday.
Gavin Araujo struck twice to put Bardez ahead. Vasco Veterans reduced the margin through Vishant Pednekar before Uday Naik levelled the scoreline. Stung by the leveller, Bardez Veterans regrouped quickly and Bruno Coutinho regained the lead before the break.
The second half saw Bardez Veterans make several attacks but they were frustrated by the opposition. Bibiano Fernandes inflated the tally before Paresh Misquin scored. Francisco D'Souza made it 4-5 and Lino Pereira scored the sixth for Bardez.
Earlier, Sirvodem Sports Club made short work of FC YFA 3-1. The highlight of the match was a brace by Nevilla Colaco while Aniela Baretto was the other goal getter for winners. Sommaya Mukundan scored the consolation goal for FC YFA.
Annete Da Costa and Nevilla Colaco were adjudged as best emerging player and best player respectively. Veterans Vishant Pednekar and Rev Fr Simao Rodrigues awarded trophies to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Edward D'Silva, Sarpanch of Chandor, Piedade Diniz, Simplicio Diniz, Jerry Fernandes, SAG coach, Maria Rebello, ex-Fifa women's referee, and Albert Pinheiro, ex-Customs officer. The prize presentation function was compered by John Fernandes.
