FC Bardez edged past Dempo SC in a five-goal thriller in GFA's Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday evening. Inacio Colaco, Clinton Niasso and Chatur Naik were the goal-scorers for FC Bardez. Mario Mascarenhas and Jaison Vaz scored for Dempo.
Dempo started well and dominated play in the opening minutes creating two quick chances in the first five minutes. The first chance went to Beevan D'Mello, whose shot at goal was held on to by Bardez goalkeeper Aliston Fernandes. Kapil Hoble had an open chance to head the ball from Nestor Dias' cross, but his header lacked accuracy and sailed over the crossbar. In the 11th minute, Beevan had a shot at the rival goal, but missed the mark narrowly.
Clinton Niasso registered the first shot on target for Bardez but the Dempo custodian was alert enough to block his attempt. Nickson Castanha played a lovely through ball which was well collected by Latesh Mandrekar, who saw his shot parried away by Bardez goalkeeper Aliston Fernandes. Beevan D'Mello pounced upon the rebound, but his attempt was blocked well by Neville Albuquerque.
Moments later, Clinton Niasso had a good chance to score but he just could not make any contact with Subham Dessai's cross from the right flank. Youngster Nestor Fernandes came very close to getting his name on to the score-sheet as he received a miss-pass from Stanley
D'Silva.
Beevan, Latesh, Yogesh Kadam and Kapil were a constant threat to the Bardez citadel, but could not break the deadlock, until the brink of half time, when Mario Mascarenhas back-heeled a headed pass from Nestor Dias after he got a well-measured cross from a corner-kick by Beevan.
Post resumption, FC Bardez looked revitalised as they put pressure on Dempo. Earlier, Shallum Pires had blocked Inacio Colaco's shot, but in the 49th minute, Inacio was successful in leveling the match (1-1). Joaquim Abranches looked to create an impact right from his very first touch as he had a shot missing narrowly off a Kapil Hoble cross.

In the 92nd minute Dempo substitute Jaison Vaz headed the ball into the far corner off Shallum Pires' cross. A last-minute calamity struck Dempo SC when Chatur Naik found the target after Dempo goalie had failed to hold on to the ball from Inacio Colaco's shot from the right flank.
