Debutants FC Bardez trounced 10-man Corps of Signals 4-0 in the GFA Pro League at 3MTR ground, Navelim on Sunday.
Going into the match, FC Bardez were in rampant form in the league and they proved to be the better team on the day. They managed to restrict their opponents, keeping them in their own half whilst enjoying most of the possession.
FC Bardez made their possession count in the 21st minute when striker Joel Sunday beat his markers and slotted past the rival goalkpeer to break the deadlock off a pass from Latesh Mandrekar. Earlier Corps of Signals came close in foisting the lead when midfielder Roshan Singh moved inside the rival penalty box but was thwarted by Lenstan Afonso.
At the other end, striker Joel Sunday who proved to be a menace for the opponents, unleashed a snap shot but it was fisted away by the rival goalkeeper. Corps of Signals suffered a jolt in the 41st minute when referee ejected Romenjit Singh. A minute later, Richard Costa doubled the lead with a fantastic strike.
Post resumption, FC Bardez continued to enjoy the total domination as they used the numerical advantage well. Sunday struck again to register his brace in the 54th minute. Anil Chavan quashed Corps of Signals' hopes of comeback with a fine strike in the 58th minute. On the other hand, Corps of Signals were a subdued lot and failed to trouble the rival reargaurd.
