Fly brings dead man to life

‘Aiz Hanv Falleam Tum’ was a popular tiatr running in Mumbai. In one particular scene, Joe Rose is dying while seated on the wheel chair and Annie Quadros is in the process of delivering a rather lengthy dialogue.

Prince Jacob and I are present in thisscene too. All of a sudden, I hear Joe Rose who is supposed to be dead in thescene, softly telling me “Humbert please step a little further and cover me up…pleasecover me up.” I did not know why he was asking me to cover him. But,nevertheless I moved a little closer to him and covered him behind myback.

After a little while he said “Okay” and asked me to move away. I moved a littlefurther to the front. After a short while I heard him whisper, “Humbert pleasecover me…please cover me up,” once again. I dutifully did so, using my back.

After the end of the scene Joe revealed to me that when he played the role ofthe dead man on the wheelchair, a fly came and sat on his nose thereby ticklinghim. His nose began to itch badly. The moment I covered him for the first timehe drove the fly away and quickly scratched his nose. After some time the flyreturned back and sat on his nose yet again. Such emergencies are faced by theartistes while acting on the stage and we have to face them boldly.
