Former volleyball player Liofo passes away at 64

MARGAO: Former volleyball player Liofo Piter Da Costa passed away after a brief illness. He was 64.

Da Costa is survived by his wife, Lilian Pereira, daughter Leandra Ateeth, and sons Leandro and Leander.

A prominent figure in Goa's volleyball circles, Liofo Jose Da Costa represented AVC for more than a decade and was widely respected for his contribution to the sport.

His funeral was held on Sunday at St Rock's Church, Tollecanto, Velim, followed by burial. A large number of volleyball players, sports enthusiasts and well-wishers attended the funeral to pay their last respects. Former Salcete FC president Joseph Dias condoled the death of Da Costa and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
