GCA opens Pink Centre at Chicalim

VASCO

The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has inaugurated a new Pink Centre at Chicalim to strengthen grassroots cricket and promote women’s cricket in Goa, providing aspiring cricketers from Vasco and surrounding areas with improved training infrastructure.

GCA president and former Ranji Trophy player Mahesh Dessai said the initiative would help nurture young talent and create a pathway for players to progress to Goa’s age-group teams.

Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho, who was present at the inauguration, lauded the GCA’s initiative to promote women’s cricket.

“Mormugao has produced cricketers and has a deep love for the game. There is tremendous interest in women’s cricket as well. The GCA has taken this huge step towards its promotion. Good work by Mahesh, Tulsidas and Majid shows that they are bringing about positive change, with the aim of making Goa known for cricket. Right now, we are doing reasonably well in all formats of the game,” said Godinho.

GCA secretary Tulsidas Shetye, vice-president Paresh Fadte, treasurer Abdul Majid were among those present at the inauguration
