Filomeno Costa, President of Sporting Club of Davorlim on Tuesday said if he wins the Vice President of South Goa election on October 30 his priority is to promote football in every nook and corner of Goa through clubs, well-wishers and various other mediums so that talented players can be picked to upgrade them to higher levels.
Costa intends to promote football not only on playgrounds but also through seminars and various other coaching methodologies, with the help of team members' cooperation and support. Football teams will be selected for Santosh Trophy well in advance.
A proper plan will be prepared for all the GFA competitions where the awards, trophies, cash prizes etc can be presented to the winners and non-winners on the spot, Costa stated.
State-level football tournaments will be organised with the support of team members. Sponsors for the tournaments and other activities will be requested with the support of the team members. A support committee of well-wishers will be proposed of retired coaches, players others for football promotions.
"We have to start leagues for various age groups," Costa said.
"I am involved in various sports activities of which football is my favourite one. That’s why I still play and promote football. Many of the clubs and football lovers have seen my passion for football, for which now they have requested me to contest GFA elections for the post of Vice President. So that’s when I decided to file my nomination and contest for the post," Costa added.
Costa is in a two-way fight with Antonio Pango for the post of Vice president of GFA.
Talking about his past experience as president of Sporting Club of Davorlim, Costa said, “I’ve already worked with our club and Davorlim village. Experience-wise and credibility-wise, I think I will be able to deliver this role,” Costa concluded.
