GFA Selection routed St Xavier's College, Mapusa 3-0 in the GFA Inter-Colleigiate Women's League at Duler grounds, Mapusa on Thursday.

GFA Selection lived up to their favourites tag as striker Velanie Fernandes scored three goals that gave St Xavier's high and dry.

GFA Selection started the game aggressively and launched a barrage of attacks. However, rival's central defender Bethany Remedios was stubborn at the back in thwarting the rampaging forwards. However, St Xavier's citadel fell in the 30th minute when their defender handled the ball inside the penalty box and the resultant spot-kick taken by Velanie Fernandes made no mistake in sending the rival goalkeeper the wrong way.

Crossing over, any thoughts that GFA Selection would take their foot off the accelarator were wiped away when Velanie Fernandes struck a second time to give her team a 2-0 cushion. Velanie Fernandes scored her third goal and capped a fine morning when she scored with a snap shot.

Velanie Fernandes was adjudged woman of the match for her stellar performance.
