Futebol Club YFA recorded their first win of 4th edition of the Goa Football Association Vedanta Women’s League defeating Goa United Sports Academy 2-0 at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.

A strike each in either half from Chelsea Crasto (20’) and Rhea Pires (83’) were enough for YFA to beat Goa United, who were playing their first game in the competition.

YFA made two changes to their side which lost in the opening day encounter to FC Goa. Prithi Kesarkar replaced Annette Da Costa in goal. Annette was deputed the role in midfield as Swarangi Reddy didn’t feature in their line-up while Laveena Pires was the other change who was considered in the line up after Marisa Rodrigues was serving suspension following her red card in the opening games.

FC YFA were the better side and created many chances throughout the game. They scored the first in the 20th minute when Annette threaded a through pass to Chelsea, who covered some distance and took a shot. The ball however hit the second post and entered the goal.

YFA squandered many chances throughout the game as Chelsea missed to complete her hat-trick. She hit a shot straight at the keeper when she should have done better while the goal-scorer saw her another attempt hit the crossbar.

However, YFA doubled the lead in the 83rd minute through Rhea, who fired a shot from a distance giving no chance for the rival keeper.
