GFDC coaches workshop concludes

The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) organised a two-day workshop for the coaches from North and South Goa at the SAG Athletic Stadium at Bambolim recently. The workshop was conducted from 10 am to 3 pm and was attended by 85 coaches from across the State.  

The workshop was conducted under the supervision of GFDC technical in-charge Derryl D’Souza. The objective of the workshop was to enhance and upgrade the coaches’ knowledge so as to conduct and organise match-related football session for GFDC trainees. The workshop comprised more of practical sessions as 

well theoretical.  

The topics that were focussed on were passing combination play, ball possession, defensive shape, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, pressure-cover-balance, transition from attack to defence from 3v2 to 2v1. Derryl, the AFC ‘A’ License coach and AIFF coaching instructor, pointed out that coach education is vital in developing coaches while significantly imparting it to the young GFDC trainees at its centres. 

“Each individual is different from another and demands quality sessions with emphasis on techniques that has to be taught with patience. We at GFDC believe that better coaches make better players,” he said.
