One goal each from Nacio Fernandes (48') and Richard Carvalho (59') gave Goa colts a winning start in the Sub Junior National Football Championship being held at Indore.
The Goan lads had a few good chances in the first half through Patre Joseph de Souza and Valenco Rodrigues. Their best chance came in the 20th minute when Harsh came one on one against the Rajasthan keeper but the latter pulled off a brilliant save. In the 35th minute, Nacio hit the crossbar.
Crossing over it was all Goa and in the 48th minute, Rajasthan defender brought down a charging Valenco in the box. The resultant penalty was calmly converted by Nacio with a good right-footer. The Goan lads added their second goal in the 59th minute when, once again, Valenco made a brilliant run on the left to beat his marker and set Richard with a good low cross, who had only to tap home.
Goa take on Gujarat on December 22 in their next fixture.
