Goa Doot down Tarun Bharat for Vijay Gad Trophy

Goa Doot beat last year's winners, Tarun Bharat by eight runs in the final of Vijay Gad memorial inter-media cricket tournament at Campal on Thursday. The tournament was organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa.

Batting first after winning the toss, Goa Doot put up a modest total of 55/5 in the allotted 10 overs. Amar Pawar scored 18 runs while Tanaji Gawas contributed 16 runs. Tarun Bharat's Rajaram Bhat and Sagar Karbotkar picked up two wickets each.

Tarun Bharat could only score 47 runs in their reply, losing six wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Rajaram Bhat scored 13 runs, while Anil Bandiwadekar made 10 runs. Goa Doot fielded very well to support a disciplined performance by their bowlers. Jagannath Khavnekar picked up two wickets. Shubham Arolkar and Santosh Kubal took one wicket each.

Goa Cricket Association chief executive officer and former Ranji captain, Prashant Kakode, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of late Vijay Gad's son, Rajesh Gad and other dignitaries.

Individual prizes: Man of the match - Shubham Arolkar (Goa Doot), Man of the tournament - Vipul Pawar (Goa Doot), Best fielder - Waman Prabhu (Goa Doot), Best batsman - Vipul Pawar (Goa Doot), Best all-rounder: Anil Bandiwadekar (Tarun Bharat), Best bowler - Sagar Karbotkar (Tarun Bharat), Best wicket-keeper: Jagannath Khavnekar (Goa Doot), Best disciplined team - Navhind Publications.
