The four-day Under-23 C.K. Nayudu Trophy Elite `A` Group match between Goa and Baroda reached an interesting stage on the second day at the GCA ground in Sanguem. After being bowled out for 298, from their overnight score of 275 for 6 in the first innings, Goa replied by reaching 221 for 9 at the close of play on Day Two. Goa are still trailing by 77 runs on the basis of the first innings.
Goa were in dire straits at 87 for 7, but Yash Kasvankar stitched together a crucial 52-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Chigurupati Venkata. Kasavankar was dismissed after scoring 43 runs off 171 deliveries. Thereafter, Chigurupati Venkata added the highest partnership of the innings, putting on 56 runs with Manish Kakode. Manish scored 33 runs off 52 balls, including five boundaries.
Venkata remained unbeaten on 68, having faced 148 balls and struck nine fours and one six. He also shared an unbroken 26-run stand with the last batsman Samarth Rane (1).
