Bardez Football Club played their hearts out to come from two goals down to hold
Velsao Sports and Cultural Club to a 2-2 draw in a
tenth round match of the Goa Professional League
organized by GFA and played at Duler Stadium on
Monday.
After this drawn encounter, Velsao SCC has 8 points while Bardez FC has 6 points.
Bardez FC coach Savio D’Souza made just one change in his starting XI by fielding striker Dwayne Ticlo.
At the other end, Velsao SCC coach Eban Mesquita made two changes by fielding Umesh Pujar and Jesloy Moniz.
Velsao Sports and Cultural Club dominated the first session and opened the scoring through the boots
of Viegas. Bersal then registered his brace in the 45th minute.
The Vasco colts took the lead in the tenth minute when Flan Gomes sent an intelligent pass to Bersal Viegas, who clinically finished from
inside the six-yard box to make it 1-0.
They then doubled their lead in the 45th minute when a goal bound shot by Flan Gomes was handled by Bardez’s Mobin Rai just
outside the penalty box prompting referee Tejas Nagvekar to award a
direct free-kick. Bersal Viegas brilliantly curled his shot into the far corner of the goal to make it 2-0.
The Bardez colts finally tasted success in the 64th minute when Velsao keeper Suresh tackled Cho Lepcha
inside the penalty box where referee Tejas pointed to the penalty spot.
Cho Lepcha made no mistake and made it 2-1. In the 78th minute, the Bardez colts leveled terms through Cho Lepcha, who tapped the ball into the goal.
