The three-day Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite (Under-16) cricket match between Goa and Baroda began on Friday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. On the opening day, the Baroda team reached a strong position at 323 for 6, gaining control of the match.
Goa's bowlers had initially reduced Baroda to a precarious 98 for 4. However, Shubham Haria (unbeaten on 117) steadied the innings by putting together a 66-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Vihaan Panchal (32). After Panchal's dismissal, Haria teamed up with Tilak Patel (52) to add another 110 runs. These two partnerships helped Baroda wrest back control and establish dominance, loosening Goa's early grip on the match.
For Goa, Shaunak Teli claimed 2 wickets for 43 runs. Vinit Kamat took 1 for 61, Mrunal Naik 1 for 45, Anurag Bahadur 1 for 52, and Ashutosh Shetty 1 for 16.
This is Goa’s second match of the tournament. In their first match, Uttarakhand defeated Goa by 10 wickets.
