Chhattisgarh staged a remarkable comeback into the game from 55/5 in their second innings to eventually win outright on Day 3 against hosts Goa by 10 wickets in the C K Nayudu Trophy (2018-19) Rd V Elite Group C match at Sanguem Cricket Ground on Monday.

Goa were bundled out for 89 in 47.2 overs and only barely made Chhattisgarh bat again. The visitors needed just a delivery off Goa pacer Heramb Parab to get over the line which went for four byes.

Resuming the day on 31/4 still 58 runs in arrears of the visitors score, one-down Shubham Dessai (8) was soon to fall for an

addition of three runs to his overnight score. The team had lost half the side with only 35 runs on the board inside 18 overs.

The sixth fell at 39 with Nehal Surlekar (4) also snapped up by Tripathi. Ranji discard Vishamber Kahlon, who only recently made his debut against Jharkhand in the format, appeared well-set, but support at the other end did not look forthcoming.

Aditya Suryawanshi 22 ( 3b,4x4) walked in to bat and offered some resistance to Kahlon before being castled by Shubham Singh and

had the side on the mat at 66/7. Goa were still trailing Chattisgarh by 23 runs.

The eighth and ninth wickets fell off successive deliveries to Gagandeep Singh with Dhiraj Yadav out leg before in an excruciating 26-ball nought and Heramb Paramb got a first-baller onto his stumps. The score all of a sudden read 77/9 in 38 overs with the ignominy of an innings defeat imminent.

Last man Sachin Bukkam survived an obstinate 33 deliveries without scoring a run to salvage some respect for his side by helping avert

an innings defeat before being the third and final victim in the innings for Tripathi, who found him rooted to the crease. Vishamber Kahlon, who made 72 in the first essay, stayed unconquered with 41 in 104 balls with five hits to the ropes in his second visit at the wicket.

For Chhattisgarh, S K Chadda created the most damage with impressive returns of 4/33.
