Parish Youth, Nuvem beat Ambelim Sports Club 4-3 via tiebreaker to march into the quarter-finals of Roosevelt Alemao Memorial inter village football tournament, organised by Churchill Brothers FC, at Varca SC ground,
on Thursday.
Ambelim came close to breaking the deadlock when Nial Cardozo outwitted a couple of defenders and unleashed a snap shot which rival goalkeeper Shawn Rodrigues parried away to safety. Parish Youth’s Sanford Colaco’s stiff shot then kissed the horizontal bar in the 12th minute. It was Ambelim’s turn to be disappointed when Nial Cardozo’s rasping shot hit the crossbar.
Ambelim again went close when Nial Cardozo’s goal-bound was somehow saved on the goal-line by Schubert Colaco. Crossing over, the teams went all out in search of the elusive goal but could not score one.
In the tiebreaker, Richard Colaco, Cedar Colaco, Flaston Quadros and Stephen Colaco scored for PY Nuvem, while Perryson Fernandes, Leslie Fernandes and Samson Fernandes found the mark for Ambelim Sports Club.
