Goa U-23 came back strongly to have the visitors Chhattisgarh reeling at 11/2 after being dismissed for 193 on Day 1 of the C K Nayudu Trophy (2018-19) Rd V Elite Group C match at Sanguem Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Electing to bat first, Goa in their first innings were tottering at 65/6 after 25 overs. It required the young middle-order batsman, Vishamber Kahlon 72 (113b, 7x4, 1x6) to show his class and temperament to bring a semblance of respectability to their first essay.
Kahlon who played his only First Class match versus Jharkhand in Porvorim recently raised a 79-run seventh-wicket stand with Nehal Surlekar who made 36 (59b, 5x4).
Former India U-19 World Cupper Heramb Parab who has a three-match Ranji experience used the long handle to good effect coming in at number 10. Parab made 30 (36b, 4x4, 1x6) and with Dhiraj Yadav (10) put on an invaluable 41-run stand for the 9th wicket.
