Geno Pharmaceuticals Goodwill Ambassador Ritviz Parab (2260) starred in the Open Category at the World Youth Mind Sports Fair Blitz and Rapid U-16 category tournament with a silver medal.
The event which concluded in Suwon (Korea), saw Ritviz scoring 5.5 points from seven rounds of action as he defeated IM Lorparizangeneh Shahin (2425) of Iran in the 7th round. On his way to winning silver, Ritviz scored five wins and drew with India’s Visakh N R (2411). His only loss came against GM Arvind Chitamdaram. India’s GM Arvind Chitambaram (2505) won the gold medal with six points while another Indian in Visakh N R (2411) finished third. In the Rapid event, he finished 11th with 3.5 points.
In the girls category, Goa's WFM Riya Savant (2153) also a Geno Goodwill Ambassador claimed the fifth place in Blitz securing 4.5 points and in Rapid she stood 5th with 4.5 points.
Meanwhile, at the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2015, Ritviz finished 5th place in the U-16 category with 5.5 points and drew with IM Lorparizangeneh Shahin (2425) of Iran. Riya finished 6th with 5.5 points as she drew with Hu Yu A (1971) of China. WGM Bhakti Kulkarni finished 16th with 4.5 points as she drew with WGM Nguyen Thi Thanh An (2227) of Vietnam at the Asian Continental Championship in UAE. IM Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman (2341) of India won with 6.5 points while WIM Hejazipour Mitra (2321) of Iran finished first runner-up with 6 points and WIM Pratyusha Bodda (2194) of India was second runner-up.
