Hockey: St Xavier's crush Holy Cross 10-0

St Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Mapusa scored a big win while Assagao Union High School, Assagao and St Anthony High School, Duler also won at Bardez Taluka Junior Nehru hockey tournament for under-17 girls at Peddem Sports Complex.

On the opening day of the tournament, Assagao Union High School defeated St Ann's High School, Tivim 4-3 on penalties after both the teams failed to score in the regulation time. S Siddhi scored two goals, while Demovva B and Kavita J also converted for Assagao school. Esha F, Jovita J and Divyashree S scored a goal each for St Ann's.
In the second match of the day, St Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Mapusa trashed Holy Cross High School, Siolim by a big 10-0 margin. Kerryann Albuquerque led the rout with five goals, Rani Topno scored a hat-trick and Nitiz Kullu slammed a brace for St Xavier's. In the last match of the day, defending champions St Anthony HS, Monte Guirim were outclassed by St Anthony High School, Duler 2-0. Veena Naik and Riya Salgaonkar scored for the Duler School.
Matches were conducted under the guidance of senior coach Alexander Remedious, who was assisted by Pandurang Sakhalkar, Aviraj Madgaonkar, Gaurav Singh and Ayyaz Khan.
