Hosts Barcelona Boys, Colva prevailed over Viva Goa Bardez Veterans 4-2 via tie-breaker to march into the semi-finals of All Goa Barcelona Veterans football tournament organized by Barcelona Boys ,Colva at Mabai Grounds, Per Seralulim on Friday. Hosts Barcelona Boys led 1-0 at the breather.
Both the teams dished out attacking brand of football and kept the crowds on their toes.
Barcelona Boys slowly took over the reins and controlled the match with their forwards showing urgency and troubled the rival defence with sporadic raids. Jose Fernandes broke the deadlock when he received the ball from his colleague and unleashed a shot which crashed into the nets.
Post resumption, Barcelona Boys continued to dictate terms and fired couple of salvos against the rival goal which either went wide or straight into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper. With time running out, Viva Goa Bardez Veterans fired on all cylinders and Alex Alvares' free kick eluded the rival goalkeeper to put his team on equal terms.
In the ensuing penalty shoot out, Rocky Goes, Augusto Pereira and Seby Cardozo converted for the winners while Henry Fernandes was the lone scorer for Viva Goa Bardez Veterans. Constancio Fernandes under Barcelona bar effected three saves in the penalty shoot out .
