Rohan Ahuja who is the brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals and also a Fide Master and youngest International Master was felicitated at the hands of Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai with a shawl,memento and a cash purse of Rs 11,000 at a function organized by Brian Power Chess and Cultural Academy at Academy premises,Fatorda.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardesai emphasised that chess originated in Goa and he was happy that such chess training academy existed in his constituency and further said that brain and brawn are both essential in modern times. Guest of honour and MMC Councilor Tito Cardozo said that he was delighted to have a chess academy in his ward where children can excel in chess.
Kishore Bandekar, Secretary of Goa Chess Association stated that with efforts of the chess association the sport has now become a popular sport in the state and helps children in their studies. Later, Sardessai presented awards to the 'Best Upcoming Young Stars of Brian Power Chess and Cultural Academy.
