In Goa, Tarun Bharat reach semis

In Goa and defending champions Tarun Bharat have entered the semi-finals of Vijay Gad memorial inter-media cricket tournament organised by the Sports Journalists Association of Goa at Campal.

In Goa defeated The Goan by 45 runs in the first match on Tuesday. Put in to bat, In Goa scored 107 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Raj Pawar was the top scorer for In Goa with 36 runs from 18 balls. He hit three sixes and two fours. Pranay Malik made 26 runs off 14 balls. He hit four fours.
In reply, the Goan could only reach a total of 62/8 in the allotted 10 overs. Openers Shailesh Barve scored 19 runs while Gangaram Sawant made 12 runs. In Goa’s Pranay Malik and Sanket Naik picked up two wickets each. Pranay was named man of the match for his all-round performance.
In the second match of the day, defending champions Tarun Bharat beat Times of India by eight wickets. Tarun Bharat won the toss and elected to field. Times of India could only post a modest total of 60 runs losing six wickets, in the allotted 10 overs. Keshav Naik scored 11 and Rajtilak Naik made 10 runs. No other batsman got into double digits. Tarun Bharat’s Mahesh Konekar picked up two wickets.
Tarun Bharat got off to a good start in their chase with openers putting on a 46-run partnership. Anil Bandiwadekar top-scored with 29 runs off 19 balls. Sagar Karbotkar made 18 runs. Tarun Bharat reached their target in 6.5 overs, losing just two wickets. Anil Bandiwadekar was named man of the match.
