The Department of Physical Education and Sports headed by Shailesh Chodankar, Director of Physical Education and Sports, MES College, Vasco, organised the 2nd All-Goa Inter-Collegiate Cross Country Championship at MES College, Zuarinagar.
Around 70 athletes from 11 Colleges across Goa competed in the event. The principal of the College, Dr RB Patil flagged off the race which began at the gates of MES College and tracked across to Mt Litera School and back to BITS Pilani,
Vasco.
Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona, won the first place in the overall team championship, while Rosary College, Navelim and Govt College, Quepem secured the second and third place, respectively. Teddy Cardozo from Fr Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar, won the first place in the Individual Championship.
Ajaykumar Bind from MES College, Zuarinagar, secured the second place and Salman Khan from Rosary College got the third place. The winners were awarded with cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony, Dr Francis Lobo, Director of Physical Education and Sports, Rosary College, Navelim, spoke on the importance of physical activity in today’s life. Dr R B Patil, Principal of MES College, addressed the gathering and Dr Cosma Fernandes, Chairperson of the Sports Advisory Committee gave the vote of thanks.
