Holders Manipur and Odisha, the two best sides in the competition, will cross swords in the summit clash of the Junior National Under 18 Girl's Football Championship at Rosary grounds, Navelim on Wednesday (Oct 21) at 7.30 am.
Both states have topped their respective groups with nine points each and have been unbeaten so far in the tournament. In the semi-finals, both the teams were clinical. Manipur beat Delhi 4-2 while Odisha strolled to a 4-1. It was as if a fitting finale was waiting to welcome the teams ahead of the Dussera festivities. The final, by all means, promises to be a riveting contest between sides that have attacked with venom in the tournament and another that prides itself on their defensive track record.
Manipur have so far scored 27 goals in the tournament and spearheading their attack has been Kasmina who has topped with 20 goals, followed by H Daya Devi (16) and N Ratanabala Devi. At the other end, Odisha's defence has always been rival strikers' nemesis. Odihsa's Jasman Samad, Anamika Malik and Swarna Priya Nayak have been at their imperious best sharing eight goal between the three.
