A fine brace each by Necil Pinto and Cliff Baretto helped Margao Sports Club thump hosts Dando Boys Club, Benaulim 4-1 to win the 21st All Goa 21st Dando Boys Cup inter-village football tournament at St John the Baptist Dando Grounds, Benaulim on Sunday. Margao Sports Club led 2-0 at half time.
Margao Sports Club dominated the game right from the word go and pushed their opponents on the back foot.They did not wait for long as early moments of the game saw Necil Pinto converting a spot-kick. Spurred by the lead, Margao Sports Club intensified their attacks and doubled the lead when Necil Pinto bulge the net.At the other end, Dando Boys disappointed the home crowds with their shoddy display and were a disjointed lot as they hardly tested the rival custodian. Crossing over, Margao Sports Club continued to enjoy the lion's share of exchanges and restricted their opponents to their own half. They attacked both the flanks and midway in the second half, Cliff Baretto struck a second time to register his brace. Down by 4-0, Dando Boys went all out and Faisal Bepari scored the consolation goal.
Margao Sports Club were richer by Rs 40,000 and hosts Dando Boys took home Rs 30,000.Benaulim MLA Churchill Aleamo was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries.
